It’s me again. It was Bien and the Father knocking on the door a while ago. Bien was just so excited to show me the present his new teacher in his Pre Primary Class gave him. And I am just as excited to share it with you too.
Bien gave me a pocketful of little things just before the father insisted to give me the letter first. In the treasurefull pocket are : cotton ball, jellybear (Bien announced he could not wait so he eat it), sticker, rubber band, 1 cent aussie coin, tissue,(not sure what brand) star sticker, toothpick, band aid, goldthread, eraser and the Life Saver,( not in the pocket)
So here’s the letter:
Dear Bien
I am so pleased you are going to be a part of this class, I have made a special little welcom just for you.
The cotton ball is to remind you that this room is full of kind words and warm feelings.
The Jelly bear is to remind you that I care about you.
The sticker is to remind you that we will all need to stick together and help each other.
The rubber band is to remind you that you are valuable and special.
The tissue is to remind you to help dry someone’s tears.
The star is to remind you to shine and always try your best.
The toothpick is to remind you to “pick out” the good qualities in your classmates and yourself.
The bandaid is to remind you to heal hurt feelings with your friends and yourself.
The gold thread is to remind you that friendship ties our hearts together.
The eraser is to remind you that everyone makes mistakes and that is ok.
The lifesaver is to remind you that you can come to me if you need someone to help you.
I know we are going to have an exciting and fun year learning together.
Best Wishes
From
Mrs. McMinigal
Lovely isn’t it? As of presstime, my mind is just overwhelmed with thoughts which has been lurking for a while…And the Dad asked the usefull engine to tell Mummy what those things in the pocket meant, Bien said, can’t remember… but the rubber band is to hug someone… then, right away he gave me a hug and said, I already gave daddy one in the classroom.
I know, as parents, we have embarked on the other stage of journey as well. And if you have similar experience with me, you will understand.
Thanks for the big heart.
Yo! you all out there!
Just can’t wait to be here again. Although a cluttered and mountainous tasks are set to be done today. Today is the second day of the the school term, and horray! my two useful engines are off with excitement. Well, and the motherette too of course. Its been a long seven weeks. Having them at home I don’t mind.. Thanks to the Fatherette, who took off 8 weeks of leave to take them around.
So now, am officiallly free, from 9:00am to 3:00 pm. I thought, what it would be like? Oh, just started the feelin of it, but the irony is I don’t even know which task to take on first, so this morning, about 2 hours ago, while kids were off to school with their Father on their bikes, I started touring the rest of my estate… the 400 sq m block where we live. Alas, I remembered I have planted a sweet potato months and months ago, and now its creeping down the wild, the vines and leaves are about to migrate next door through the fence. So with the sight of it, I thought, have to do something about it.
I grab all the sharpy things I could find and start taking the tops and digging for the root. Around this time, am ready to devour anything that my yummy tummy desires. And guess what, it didn’t take long. I’ve found the fruit of my labour which could easily weigh around a kilo. This is not a drama, but just a nice feeling when you get to have something you don’t even think you’ll get at that moment… So when the man of the house came back from school, I delightedly share the pinkish sight of the fruit. Well, I didn’t expect much reaction, its just a kilo of SWEET POTATO! a descent ahh, I see! was good enough as his responce, for me, its enough to acknowlege my contribution to the household economy.
I think the best feeling was in less than 7 minutes in the microwave, I had a heartful brekky of again, sweet potato and sweet potato tops dressed with calamansi juice and a dash of salt! How healthy would that be? Anyone?
So, this one sounds weird to you who don’t know me, but for those who have known me, my siblings, friends back home, they very well knew that I’m just as happy as Larry to eat my native staple of sweet potato!!!
Off I go, to finish my paperworks sitting in the long kitchen bench and to open the door who ever it is knocking my door.
Ciao!
